Twitter Lag

I'd like to say that I'm one of the more tech savvy teachers in my school, but I am in a graduate course where, more often than not, I look like the Luddite of the group.  In an effort to improve, I am starting this blog again with hopes that this very act will drive me to look for new technology to implement in the classroom.

I have just upgraded to an iPhone 4s that replaces my Galaxy S droid.  In doing so, I am trying to get the most I can out of it.  For whatever reason, I had no desire to do this with the Galaxy S- partially, I know it had to do with its constant lag.  After playing for hours with the phone, I decided to download the Twitter app that I discovered in the settings menu.  I have tweeted one small thing about the weather and have begun following Bill Gates and EdWeek, but I'm not sure I get it completely.  It is instant- I know that; you can get messages about an array of topics from an array of people- I get that; but I do not know grasp the overall picture unless I have grasped it with these two understandings.  For now, my effort is to tweet occasionally and follow a few people/groups with topics I'm interested in.  Through this, surely the purpose will be better understood.  In the mean time, this much is understood:  I am way too far behind to only now be discovering Twitter and its uses.  My time has not been spent unwisely since its inception, but I may find it so valuable that that statement may be quickly proven false.
